Darhl D. Hughes, 6 March 1931

Darhl D. Hughes, 71, of Blackfoot died January 30, 2003 at the Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls.

He was born march 6, 1931 in Malad, ID, the son of Walter T. and Merle Elizabeth Daniels Hughes.

After graduating from Downey high School, he joined the Navy where he served from 1950-54. He lived most of his life in Blackfoot, except for a short time in which he lived at Twin Falls.

On December 24, 1954, he married Ann Richards. During their 23 years of marriage, they were blessed with three sons. They were later divorced. He then married Ellen Tsuchiyama on October 24, 1980 in Blackfoot.

He was a member of the Elks Lodge and a past Exalted Ruler of Blackfoot Lodge #1416 and the American Legion.

He worked for the INEEL as an industrial mechanic for 33 years.

Darhl enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and tinkering. He was known as an amateur inventor.

He is survived by his wife, Ellen of Blackfoot; children, Randy Darhl (Benda) Hughes, Rodney Dee (Kris Ann) Hughes, Ricky Dale (April) Hughes, all of Blackfoot; Vickie Lish of Boise, ID; a sister, Joan Boyce of Idaho Falls; seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Leon Hughes.

An Elks funeral service will be held February 3, 2003 at the Hawker-Hill Funeral Chapel with Melvin England conducting.

A graveside service will be held at the Malad Cemetery with the American Legion, Stewart Hoover Post #23 conducting.
