Funeral Monday At Samaria For Daniel Hughes Jr.
Funeral services for Daniel Hughes Jr., 52, of Samaria who died Friday morning at an Ogden hospital of post-operative complications, were conducted Monday at 1 p.m. with Bishop Carl Evans in charge.
Prayer at the home was given by David Hughes, the invocation by Roscoe Palmer and the benediction by Roscoe Smith. Speakers were Bishop Evans, John J. Roderick and Jesse Hughes. Vocal solos were sung by Carole Hughes and Melvin Atkinson. The prelude and postlude music was by Mrs. Jack (May) Williams.
Dedicatory prayer at the cemetery was given by D.M. Williams.
Mr. Hughes was born January 11, 1901, at Samaria, a son of Daniel and Emaline Jones Hughes. He was reared and educated at Samaria and was active in farming. In the fall and winter months he was engaged at the Utah-Idaho Sugar Co. factory at Garland. Mr. Hughes was never married.
He was a member of the Samaria ward, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
Survivors include his father, Samaria; three sisters, Miss Jane Hughes, Samaria; Mrs. Ray Netcher, Vale, Oregon; Mrs. Albert Watts, Reno, Nevada.
Burial was in the Samaria cemetery with the Benson Funeral Home of Malad in charge.
