Dan N. Kent, 20 September 1925

FIELDING – A great husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and friend, Dan N. Kent passed away at his home in Fielding, UT on August 1, 2002, surrounded by his loving family.

Dan was born September 20, 1925 in St. John, ID to Daniel W. and Clara Nielsen Kent. Dan attended school in St. John where he was the protector of his younger friends. He attended high school in Malad. At the age of 17 he enlisted in the US Marines where he served in the Pacific Theater of war.

He married Mary Jeanine Parry on August 25, 1950 in Malad, ID. Their marriage was solemnized in the Logan Temple the following year. They lived in Malad, Ogden and moved to Fielding in 1954 where they have lived and loved the people and their home for 48 years.

Dan worked for most of his life driving truck and operating heavy equipment at Thiokol for 25 years. He retired in 1988. Dan loved to fish, hunt and go camping with his boys and the whole big gang.

Dan is survived by his wife, Jeanine, four children: Rick (Merlynn) Kent, Fielding; Jeff (Myrna) Kent, Tremonton; Pam Mellon, Honeyville, and Colleen Reott, Fielding; 19 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; a brother, James N. Kent (Norine), Spokane, WA; a sister, Viola K. Morgan, Malad, ID; in laws, Tom (EmoLou) Parry, Laurel and Aardelle Sorenson, all of Malad, ID; and many nieces and nephews that he loved very much.

His parents, two sisters and a grandson preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be held August 5 at the Fielding Stake House. Interment will be in the Fielding Cemetery.
