He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served as elders’ quorum president, Sunday school superintendent, Boy Scout leader, Sunday school teacher, ward clerk and on the initiatory team at the Idaho Falls Temple for many years.

He received his master gardener certification, and after his retirement enjoyed volunteering for public landscaping projects.

He enjoyed being around children, and especially enjoyed playing the part of Santa Claus for church, community and family for the past five years. He enjoyed gardening and spending time outdoors. Along with coaching his children, he loved spending time with his children and grandchildren, camping, teaching, four wheeling and attending their activities.
