Cora H. Sorensen, 86, died Thursday

Mrs. Cora Hardman Sorensen, age 86, died Thursday in a Logan, Utah nursing home of a stroke.

Mrs. Sorensen was born April 5, 1888, at Mendon, Utah, a daughter of Joseph and Octavia Peirce Hardman, She was Married to Ammon A. Sorensen March 23, 1910, in the Logan LDS Temple. Mr. Sorensen died Aug 9, 1958.

Mrs. Sorensen was an active member of the LDS Church, serving as a Sunday school teacher for 58 years, and was an organist for all organizations in the Church.

Surviving are a son and three daughters, Peirce, Mrs. Jesse (Verda) Hughes, both of Malad; Mrs. Milton A. (Gladys) Nelson, Provo, Mrs. Sherman (Norma) Oyler, East Garland, Utah; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Peirce Harman, Logan, Bernard Hardman, Mendon.

Bishop Darrell Swartz officiated at funeral service Monday in Malad Fourth LDS Ward Chapel. Bishop Jesse Hughes offered the family prayer; Bishop Colen Sweeten Jr., the invocation, and Bishop Earl Gillies, the benediction. Speakers were President Myron Sorensen, Bishop Swartz and Gary M. Nelson, who gave the obituary. Special music included vocal duet, Foster Ipsen and Leora Brown, and solo, Eldon Corbridge. Iris Blaisdell was the accompanist and Pearl Stuart played prelude and postlude music.

Dr. DeVon Ammon Nelson offered the dedicatory prayer at Malad City Cemetery.

Granddaughters and members of Fourth Ward Relief Society, Elaine Castleton, president, carried flowers.

Casket bearers were Terry P. Sorensen, J. Randall Sorensen, Robert Sorensen, Dennis F. Gleed, Gary M. Nelson and Devon A. Nelson.

Benson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
