Cooper D. Lish, (1999)

Cooper D. Lish
September 25, 1999 – August 13, 2023

Cooper D. Lish, 23, passed away on Sunday, August 13, 2023. Cooper was born on September 25, 1999 to parents Dale and Nickie Lish of Arimo, ID.

“Coopy” to his loved ones, he was the quintessential baby of the family, and was everyone’s favorite sibling and child (don’t tell the others). To know Cooper was to love him. From a very young age his grin, his sense of humor, his antics, and his infamous dance moves made him the life of the party. Friends have often recognized his ability to put a room at ease and make others feel comfortable in any situation. Cooper was a listening ear, a confidant, and true friend to his siblings and parents, and was the fun uncle who all of his nieces and nephews loved to flock to. He was an avid fan of music and taught himself to play the guitar, often serenading his loved ones with Johnny Cash and Leonard Cohen. Cooper was both an entertainer and an instigator, often challenging his brothers and father to wrestling matches in the living room.

Cooper was also beloved by friends, peers, and teammates alike, and was a life-long athlete and wrestled competitively, ran cross country and played soccer for Marsh Valley High School, where he graduated with honors in 2018. He then served a full-time mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Cape Town, South Africa. Cooper’s strong work ethic showed in all areas of his life, from earning his Eagle Scout, to making the dean’s list and the nursing program at Idaho State University, to supporting himself all the way through college, where he was on track to graduate in December 2024.

Cooper will be deeply missed by all who knew him and is survived by his mother Nickie, father Dale, grandmothers Marsha Lish (Kent Hadley), Helen Garvie (Duncan Garvie), and May Whitworth, sister Shelby Saylors (Ethan Saylors), brothers Lucas Lish (Kalei Lish) and Logan Lish (Alexa Lish), six nieces and nephews: Reggie Lish, Mazie Lish, Jane Saylors, Ronin Lish, Rex Lish, and Morgan Lish, as well as a host of many other extended family members. He was preceded in death by grandfathers Norman J. Lish, and Dennis Whitworth.

Services will be held in his honor Friday, August 18th, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints chapel, 286 Henderson Rd, Arimo, ID 83214. Visiting hours will be held from 12-1:45, with the funeral service to follow at 2 pm. The family invites all who knew Cooper to come and celebrate his life.
