Colleen Smith Williams (1931-2014)

      MORGAN – Our loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother Colleen Smith Williams of Morgan, Utah passed away peacefully at her home on March 15, 2014. Colleen was born on August 14, 1931 to Joel Allen Smith and Ada Larsen in Malad, Idaho. She lived many years in Holbrook, Idaho and also in Logan, Utah during her school years. She attended Utah State University in 1949-50 in Logan.

Colleen married the man of her dreams, Walter Kent Williams, on January 6, 1950. They were sealed together for time and eternity in the Salt Lake Temple. They had five children. She is preceded in death by her husband, Kent and two children, Holli and Sid.

Colleen’s life was her children. Family was so important to her and she loved spending time with all of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved following her children’s sports activities, most of all wrestling. She also loved working with the youth in church, including coaching the young women’s softball team. She served as the president of her bowling league. She loved doing ceramics, crocheting and knitting. She was very involved in the community and loved serving in various capacities. She was a PTA president and served in the Utah Dairy Wives Association as the President for both the county and the state of Utah. Colleen loved serving as a judge at the Morgan County Fair in the Fine Arts area and worked on the local fair board for 17 years. She also judged other fairs in Utah and Wyoming.

Colleen was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints. She held many positions in the church, including Relief Society President and Young Women’s President. She loved sports and was very involved in coaching the young women in softball. She loved all of the young women. She loved the gospel and loved sharing her testimony with all she associated with. She and Kent served two missions, including a mission in Hawaii and an Ogden City Mission.

She is preceded in death by her mother and father, her husband, Kent, her two sisters, Barbara and Joye and her two children Holli and Sid. Colleen is survived by her, sons Kirk (Pam) and Mitchel, daughter, Melody, and 10 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren.

A celebration of her life will be held on Thursday, March 20, 2014 at the Morgan 8th Ward, 240 South Field Street, Morgan, Utah at 11:00 a.m. A viewing will be held at the Walker Mortuary on Wednesday, March19, 2014 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm and from 9:45 am to 10:45 am on March 20th at the church prior to the services. She will be laid to rest in the South Morgan Cemetery.
