Former Holbrook man, grandson killed in cave-in accident

A former Holbrook resident, Roscoe “Doc” Palmer, age 63, and his grandson, Chris M. Palmer, 15, both of Ogden, were killed when a 12-foot cliff collapsed on them as they were rock hunting in Moon Canyon, three miles east of Woodland, Utah, Monday.

The accident was discovered by Chris’ father, Sidney Palmer, and Elwood Doxley[sic].

Also killed was Clive W. Ingram, 55, Ogden.

Joint funeral services for Mr. Palmer and his grandson will be held Friday at 11 a.m. in Lindquist and Sons Colonial Chapel, Ogden. Burial will be in Washington Heights Memorial Park.

Mr. Palmer is survived by his widow, the former LaVenia[sic] Hughes of Samaria; two sons and two daughters; father, William Palmer, Preston; seven grandchildren; eight brothers and sisters, including Mrs. Homer (Ruby) Williams, Boise.

Chris is survived by his parents; three brothers and sisters; grandparents, Mrs. Palmer and Mr. and Mrs. Martin Johnson, all of Ogden; great-grandfather, William Palmer, Preston.

Mr. Palmer was a brother-in-law of Mrs. Roscoe Smith, Mrs. Eunice Willie, and Mrs. Chet Burnett.
