Clara Jensen
(Died December 23, 2014) 

Clara Church Jensen, 78 passed away Dec 23rd after a courageous battle with cancer while surrounded by family. Clara was a kind and generous spirit who touched everyone she met, a champion to her family, loyal to friends and kind to all. Clara arrived in the home of Herman R Church and Daisy Opal Seamons on Oct 5, 1936 in Petersboro, UT. As a child, Clara and her family lived in Petersboro, Ogden UT, and San Fernando CA, before returning to Petersboro at the age of six. In the sixth grade, they moved to Logan and lived there until she met and married W. Neil Jensen on Sept 13, 1957 in the Logan Temple. Upon graduating from Logan High School, Clara attended Utah State Agriculture Culture for two years majoring in Journalism. While there, she was a reporter for the school newspaper and wrote general releases about the college to newspapers in the area. She continued her love of writing throughout her life, taking great joy in having her short stories published. Clara and Neil began their married life living in Raymond, ID. After a year she and Neil moved back to the Jensen family ranch in Young Ward, UT where they lived for 36 years. There they raised their seven children, which were the pride of her life. Clara adored her children, each thinking they were the favorite and always there for them in their joys, sorrows and triumphs. Her Grandchildren held a special place in her heart and she was the ideal grandma, with each grandchild having special memories. She had a very creative soul, in addition to writing she and her mother took oil painting classes and created many beautiful paintings as well as teaching the art to her grandchildren. In 1994, Neil and Clara moved to Samaria, ID with their three youngest children, and there they quickly learned to love the community and feel right at home. Clara served in many capacities within the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day saints, among her favorites were playing the organ and the seven years she served as a temple worker in the Logan Temple. Her strength of testimony was passed on to her children and grandchildren. She currently has five grandchildren serving missions in England, Italy, Mexico, New York and California. Clara is survived by her husband, Neil and seven children: Val (Shauna) Jensen; Evie (Chris) Stewart of Farmington, UT; Diana (Don) Maughan of North Logan, UT; Sandra (Shane) Buck of Lehi, UT; David Jensen of Soldotna, AK; Kellianne (Travis) Huckaby of Samaria, ID; Anton (Lacie) Jensen of Malad, ID; brother James (Marty) Church of Burbank, CA; brother-in-law Jaydee Hendricks of Saint George, UT; sister Lynette Hodges of Logan, UT; thirty grandchildren; twenty three great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents Herman and Daisy Church and Sister Carolyn Hendricks. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 27 at 12 noon in the Malad 2nd Ward Chapel, 20 S. 100 W. Friends may visit with the family at the Horsley Funeral Home, 132 W. 300 N. on Friday evening from 6:00-7:00 p.m. and again on Saturday from 10:30-11:30 a.m. prior to the service. Burial will follow in the Logan City Cemetery.
