Chester A. Edwards

June 8, 1893 – August 17, 1955

Chester A. Edwards, 62, Malad businessman, died this morning at the Oneida County Hospital of a heart attack.

Mr. Edwards was born at St. John, June 8, 1893, a son of David L. and Matilda Monson Edwards. He was married to Mary (Mae) Leigh at Malad on November 5, 1913. Mrs. Edwards died February 18, 1955. The couple lived in the Downey area for 20 years and in Malad where Mr. Edwards was engaged in business.

Surviving are two sons and three daughters: Mrs. Ella Housner and Mrs. Mary Peterson, both of Malad; Chester L. Edwards, Ogden; G. Joe Edwards, Logan; Mrs. Ida Mae Olson, Twin Falls; 13 grandchildren, four great grandchildren, four sisters and one brother: Mrs. L.L. Jones, Ogden; Mrs. Clem Hatch, Las Vegas, NV; Mrs. David Gardner, Alden, Iowa; Mrs. Victor Thomas, Salt Lake City; David Edwards, Malad.

Funeral arrangements were held at the Second Ward Chapel with Bishop C.H. Sweeten, Jr. officiating. Speakers were Bishop Sweeten, who gave the obituary; Dr. Thos. W. Richards and James B. Jones. Prelude and postlude music was played by Mrs. Myra Jean John. Other musical numbers were a vocal solo, Mrs. Helen E. Jones, violin solo, Mrs. Fern Willie; vocal solo, Keith Evans; vocal solo, Louise Yearsley. The invocation was by Ernest Olsen and the benediction by Fred Browning.

Prayer at the home was offered by Golden Willie and the grave was dedicated by Nolan Blaisdell. Pallbearers were Joseph Leigh, Jr., Alfred Hall, Warren Edwards, Gene Edwards, Ernest Jones and David Clair Jones.
