Charles Lynn Elcock

ELCOCK, CHARLES LYNN, November 14, 1913 – June 16, 1985

Charles Lynn Elcock, Malad, died Sunday morning in the Oneida County Hospital of sudden heart failure. He was born November 14, 1913 in Malad to Charles and Julia Gibson Elcock.

He was a lifetime resident of Malad. He grew up and was educated in Malad and graduated from Malad High School. He later attended the Albion State Normal School where he received a teaching certificate. He had served in the Army during World War II.

He married Rhoda Fern Jones June 17, 1938 in St. John. She died May 10, 1940. He married Illa Jensen July 28, 1942 in Preston. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple.

He taught school in St. John and Malad and later served as Principal of the Malad elementary and junior high schools. For 25 years he was employed by the Ireland Bank in Malad, where he served as president of the bank from 1978 until his retirement in 1980.

He had been active in community affairs and had served on the malad Planning and Zoning Committee for several years. He was on the Oneida County Hospital Board.

He was a member of the LDS Church and had served as a ward clelrk, Malad Stake clerk and counselor in the bishopric.

He is survived by his wife, Malad; three sons, Von J. Elcock, Twin Falls; Curt Elcock, Orem, UT; Larry J. Elcock, Sandy, UT; one brother, Seth Gibson Elcock, Phoenix, AZ; two sisters, Jennie Gehring, Hood River, OR; Mrs. Monte (Zillah) Swenson, Malad; and ten grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted at the Malad LDS Stake chapel. Burial will be in the Malad City Cemetery.
