Calvin Earl Godfrey

GODFREY, CALVIN EARL

Midvale, UT – Calvin Earl Godfrey, age 62, died August 5, 1987 after a courageous battle with cancer.

He was born November 18, 1924 in Murray, Utah, to Wilfred and Erma Miller Godfrey. He married Elaine Evans Bell on November 16, 1960. The marriage was later solemnized in the Jordan River LDS Temple. He was a High Priest in the East Midvale 4th Ward, where he was serving in the Sunday School Presidency at the time of his death.

He was an employee of Hercules Inc. for 26 ½ years. He retired as a foreman at Tekol. He as a veteran of World War II and the Korean conflict; Cal’s generosity with his time and talents was appreciated by all who knew him. He dearly loved his family, friends and neighbors. He enjoyed golfing and camping with his family. He made friends wherever he went.

He is survived by his wife, Elaine, daughter, Mrs. Randy (Sharlene) Goff; sons, Craig Bell and wife, Beth; Ron Bell and wife, Jeri; and Steve Bell and wife, Anna; 14 grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Del (Jeanette) Naylor; brothers, Wayne, Gene and Ross Godfrey, brother-in-law, Boyd Walke and a sister-in-law Athlene Coyner.

Funeral services were held August 8, 1987 in the East Midvale 4th Ward Chapel with Bishop Gary Losser conducting. Burial was in the Mountain View Memorial Estates in Midvale.
