Bryce Merlin Robbins, (1980)

Bryce Merlin Robbins, 3 January 1980

Bryce Merlin Robbins, loving son, brother, grandson, nephew, friend and “Daddy”, returned home to his heavenly Father on his father’s birthday, September 23, 2002 after an automobile accident took his life at the age of 22. Bryce was a friend to all and he especially loved bringing joy, smiles and laughter to those around him.

Bruce was born on January 3, 1980 to Rex Grant and Sarah Ann Carter Robbins. He was welcomed home by an older brother, Jared. Throughout his life he cherished Jared, and his younger brothers and sisters. They love him for his quick wit and enthusiasm for life.

Bryce was well known throughout the community, and he touched many people’s lives with his respectful, caring ways and friendly attitude. He loved being around people and having a good time. He always made a fathering into a party.

Blessed with a natural ability for athletics, he spent his growing up years involved in several sports and hobbies. He played soccer, basketball, baseball and wrestled. Bryce medaled in both triple and long jumps at state track his junior and senior years.

His special interests in high school included electronics, computer networking and hanging out with his friends. He participated in swing choir, FHA, FFA, SADD Club and especially enjoyed competing in the History Fair.

For several years he was involved in Scouting and achieved the rank of Eagle. He attended several leadership training camps through the Scouting program. He especially loved the silly Scouting songs and shared them often with his family – even when they weren’t willing listeners.

His skateboard became one of his cherished possessions. He learned several stunts and even tried skate boarding down the garage roof. He loved adventure and found rock climbing enjoyable and challenging. Bryce loved the out of doors and enjoyed camping and hunting.

He graduated from Malad High School in 1998 and is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. At the time of his death he was employed at Icon in Smithfield, Utah.

He was preceded in death by a younger brother, Joshua, three grandparents, Hulbert Merlin and Ruth Victoria Robbins and George Lynn Carter, and some of his childhood friends.

Bryce is survived by his parents, Rex Grant and Sarah Ann Carter Robbins; grandmother May Carter of Holbrook; three brothers, Jared Rex, Brady Lynn and Devin Andres; ;two sisters, Stacey Ann and Paige Victoria; a sister in law, Nicole Mangum Robbins; two special children, Taysum and Whyett; and several aunts and uncles.
