Blanche Benson Camp (Birth – Oct. 4, 1914)

Blanche Benson Camp, 70, former Malad resident, died Wednesday (10 April 1985) in an Idaho Falls Hospital.

She was born Oct. 4, 1914, in Malad, to Joseph Guy Benson and Hazel B. Smith. She was raised in Malad and attended schools there, graduating from Malad High School in 1932. She attended the LDS Business College in Salt Lake City.

She married Wendell Draper Camp Oct. 5, 1936, in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. They lived in the Pleasantview and Malad areas until September 1955, when they moved to Sugar City. Six years later, they moved to Idaho Falls where they lived for 20 years and then moved to Hamer where they have since resided.

She worked as a secretary before she was married and stayed at home as a homemaker until her children were nearly grown. She worked at Roger Brothers and J. C. Penney.

She was an active member of the LDS Church. She was ward organist and Relief Society president. She and her husband served an 18-month mission to Boston, Mass. She later worked in the genealogy program. She belonged to the Holiday Dance Club for several years, serving on the board of directors and as president. She also belonged to the Sugar City Cultural Club.

She is survived by her husband, Hamer, two sons, Wendell Dean Camp, Medford, Ore.; Steven Ross Camp, Palatine, Ill,; four daughters, Sharon Camp Butler and Gail Camp Prestwich, both of Idaho Falls; Lois Camp Evans, Hamer; Cheryl Camp Forsberg, Round Lake Beach, Ill; two brothers and one sister, Raiford Guy Benson, Malad; Ross J. Benson, Tremonton, Utah; Janice M. Servoss, Logan, Utah; 27 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Idaho Falls LDS 38th Ward chapel with Bishop Jerry Williams of the Hamer LDS Ward officiating. The family will visit with friends today from 7:30 to 9 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home in Idaho Falls and Saturday in the church for one hour prior to services. Burial will be at Fielding Memorial Park in Idaho Falls.
