Beverly Jean Atwood Jolley, our wonderful mother, left this earthly existence after her second fight with cancer on July 15, 2023 at home in Arimo, ID . She was born June 29, 1942 in her grandmother Allen’s home to Garth J. and Olive Allen Atwood. She was their first born child of six.

She spent her first years in Vernal, UT where she made some lifelong friends. In 1954 they left that homestead and started over again on the Minidoka Project in Acequia, ID. Here Beverly started the 7th grade and met a young man that teased her and her friends, never expecting to marry him. Beverly attended Minico High School where she was active in Pep Club, and FHA. During this time she and Ron started dating and enjoyed growing up. Most of the time they either double or triple dated with their many friends. Growing up on the farm she learned to work by hoeing potatoes, picking peas, setting siphon tubes and riding the horse to herd sheep. Beverly was very active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. After high school graduation, she went on to attend Ricks College and had a great freshmen experience.

On Christmas of 1960 she accepted a ring from Ron. They were married on June 1, 1961 in the Idaho Falls Temple. The newlyweds begin their lives together in Great Falls MT, where Ron was serving in the Air Force. They were active in the Branch and made lifelong friends. Beverly worked in the hospital where she enjoyed working with the new born babies. On August 21, 1963 their first daughter was born, Rona Jean. They returned to Rupert in June 1964 and Ron became an Idaho State Patrolman. In 1965 they moved to Strevell, ID which consisted of 5 families and drove to Malta to attend church. They spent a year there before moving back to Acequia and moving into a house on her dad’s farm. Wendy Sue was born on June 6, 1966 in Twin Falls. Ron was transferred to Pocatello. She would share the produce with neighbors each summer. JaLyn was Born on January 14, 1972 in Provo, UT. After graduation from BYU, Ron accepted a teaching job in Uintah County, Vernal, UT. Beverly was excited to move back near family. She again served in callings in the church. On May 27, 1974, Julie Marie was born. In the spring of 1976, Ron accepted a principal job in Arimo, ID and the family moved again. Beverly began working at the Downey Hospital and enjoyed the many people she met and worked with. In the fall of 1977 they moved into a home they built on 10 acres. Beverly enjoyed designing the home to be how she wanted it and planting her yard, garden and many trees. She served as Relief Society President for the Garden Creek Ward and provided her loving service to the ward. After this calling she was called to be the Stake Canning specialist and held this call until 2020. One more child would join the family on October 25, 1978, James Andrew (Andy) arrived.

In 1980 they bought a farm on the hill East of Arimo. Beverly had always loved working in her yard and gardening. They had animals and a milk cow but now they would expand to own a dairy. Beverly embarked on her journey as a true farmer’s wife. She was very good at milking cows, each had a name and would enter the barn when she called their name. She tenderly cared for each calf. Beverly loved to share from her garden, giving away flower starts to anyone who showed interest. She supported her children in any sport, event, musical endeavor and 4-H that they participated in. She always welcomed all their friends and made goodies for them. Beverly worked for a time at McCammon elementary working with students to help them in school. She enjoyed seeing them progress. As the children started leaving home, she would do everything and make sure they always left with plenty of food and time they came to visit. She taught them all about the importance of food storage. When the children were gone Beverly would hire boys from Arimo to work with her in the yard. She never stopped working along with them as she had done with her own children. She taught them by example how to work the garden and yard.

In 2012 Ron and Beverly accepted a mission call to serve in the Edmonton, Alberta Canada mission. They served in Wainwright, a farming, military and oil community. They felt at home there and made lifelong friends. Upon returning home in 2014, Beverly was diagnosed with breast cancer but was able to beat it. She donated her time each August to serve at the county fair in Downey in the antiques department. She looked forward to this each year and entered many of her own antiques. In 2020 Beverly fell as she was going out to her garden. She injured her arm but it just would not heal. She went to many doctors until finally one found that cancer was in her right shoulder. She went through radiation and chemo, but after a couple treatments she decided it was not worth feeling that sick all the time. She felt as if the treatment was killing her. She wanted to enjoy her remaining years. She was lucky enough to have over 2 more years surrounded by family and friends. Ron devoted himself to taking care of her every need. On June 1, 2023 she and Ron celebrated 62 years of marriage. Thanks to all those who graciously helped, visited, and sent their love. She enjoyed seeing everyone and thanks for the memories.
