Beulah Rice Cissney

PRESTON – Beulah Rice Cissney, 75, passed away Friday, June 5, 1998, at her home in Preston.

She was born July 30, 1922, in Malad City, Idaho, to Jeremiah W. and Annie Anderson Rice. She married Alvous Thomas Cissney on July 3, 1949, in Reno, Nev. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Los Angeles Temple on Sept. 15, 1960.

Beulah was always an active person. Her interests included fishing, cooking and canning for her family and friends. She canned so many pickles that she became known as the “Pickle Lady.”

Her handicrafts were part of her personality. She continually made gifts so that the lives of others would be brighter. Beulah was also a person who made many quilts. At the time of her passing, four more quilts were nearing completion.

As a lifelong member of the LDS Church, Beulah held numerous callings within the church. She served as president or counselor in the auxiliary organizations. She was also a faithful visiting teacher. She will be missed by the children who she taught in the nursery – a calling she faithfully fulfilled for the past six years.

Beulah, along with her companion Al, served as temple workers for nine years and as missionaries to North Carolina. She was an active member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers, Syringa Camp.

She is survived by her husband of Preston, four sons and one daughter, Melvin James (Lee) Allen, Sacramento, Calif.; William R. (Mary) Allen, Preston; Barbara Ann (Scott) Erchhorst, Salt Lake City; Gary Roy Cissney, Sacramento, Calif.; Kevin Warren (Angie) Cissney, Sacramento, California 15 grandchildren, 10 step great-grandchildren, two sisters and one brother, Blanche Lloyd, Soda Springs; Archibald (Joan) Rice, Layton, Utah; and May Lou Owen, Lancaster, Calif.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 9, 1998, at 11 a.m. in the Preston South Stake Center, 55 E. 1st S., with Bishop Robert Miller conducting.

Friends may call Monday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Webb Funeral Home and Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the Stake Center.

Burial will be in the Malad City, Idaho, Cemetery.
