Bessie Jean Krage Sweeten, 80, of Kaysville, Utah, died December 21, 2009. She is our treasure and is greatly missed.
The was born on February 1, 1929 in Houston, Texas, the second of four children to John Otto and Bessie Palmer Krage. She grew up in Omaha, Nebraska and moved to Oakland, California at the age of 16, where she graduated from High School.
She met George Wray Sweeten in Sunday School and they were married on September 17, 1947 in the Logan Temple. They lived in Malad and Holbrook, Idaho for the first 17 years of their married life. They had eight children and left the ranch in the fall of 1965 and moved to Kaysville the summer of 1966. She became an aircraft electrician at Hill Air Force Base, retiring due to on the job injuries. Her lifetime career was mother, where he shared joy, love and taught us all how to p lay.
She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints serving as Relief Society President, Primary President and many other callings.
Throughout her life Mom welcomes all into her heart and home with love and kindness. She is greatly missed.
Survivors include her eight children: Barbara J. Daniels, Gladys L. Grahm, Moore (David Brad Moore), Terri L. Shafer, George Krage Sweeten (Annette), Brad R. Sweeten (Michelle), Julie A. Murphy (Craig), John P. Sweeten (Erica), Boyd D. Sweeten (Sue), 46 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren; siblings, John Krage, Dean Mann, Gladys Langson, Vietch, Elaine Krage Bodeman and Alice White.
Preceded in death by her husband, George Wray Sweeten, sister, Helen Joyce Mann, grandchildren, Cassy Sweeten Shafer and Kathryn Sweeten.
Funeral services will be held Monday, December 28, 2009 at 11 a.m. at the Kaysville 7th Ward, 331 So. 50 W. Friends and family may call Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist Kaysville Mortuary, 400 North Main and Monday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church.
Interment, Kaysville City Cemetery.
