Benjamin Wilkes Lusk

Benjamin Wilkes Lusk, 89, of 2255 Clinton, Pocatello, passed away early Saturday, Dec. 18, 1993 following an extended illness.

Mr. Lusk was born Feb. 26, 1904, in Malad, a son of Perry Park and Blanche Elizabeth Wilkes Lusk. The early part of his life he lived on the farm in Arbon and graduated from Malad High School. The family moved from Arbon to make their home on the Bonanza Bar Ranch, west of American Falls, for several years.

His wife, Laura Blake Lusk, preceded him in death. He married Mildred Windsor Nov. 21, 1980, in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple.

He was self-employed as a rancher for many years, then came to Pocatello and worked with the Union Pacific Railroad, then worked as a painting contractor for several years in Pocatello.

A dedicated member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter- day Saints, he was bishop of the 3rd Ward for six years and until very recently was secretary in the Pocatello Stake High Priest Quorum. For five years he was an officiator in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple.

He will be remembered for his interest in roses, and he also enjoyed fishing and working with wood.

Survivors include his wife, Mildred, Pocatello; four sisters, Mrs. Fred (Esther) Bishoff, McCammon; Mrs. Jack (Ruth) Noble and Mrs. Vernal P. (Blanche) Bailey, Pocatello; Mrs. Fae Tacher, serving an LDS mission in Omaha, Neb.; a stepson, Blaine Windor Burnham. Baltimore, Md.; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Laura, four brothers and two sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Dec. 20, 1993, in the LDS City Creek Ward, 655 S. Grant St. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 6 p.m. until 3 p.m. in the Colonial Funeral Home, 2005 S. 4th Ave., then on Monday for one hour prior to the services at the church. Interment will be in the Mountain View Cemetery in Pocatello.
