Benancio Lasa

MALAD — Benancio “Ben” Lasa, 94, Malad, died Thursday, June 17, 1993, in Malad.

He was born April 1, 1899, in Eransus, Navarra, Spain, a son of Tomas and Florencia Vergara Lasa. When he was 18 years old, he came to America. He had worked all his adult life as a sheepherder, in the feed lots, and shipping lambs, and had been employed in California, Nevada, Utah and Idaho.

Mr. Lasa never married. He was a member of the Catholic Church.

Survivors include nieces and nephews, Martin and Norma Lasa of Malad, Joaquin Lasa of Elko, Nevada.; Susie Martin, Mike Lasa and Fermin Garciaceley, all of Stockton, Calif., and Angie Tocco of Modesto, Calif., and many grandnieces and grandnephews.

Funeral services will be held in the Benson-Horsley Funeral Home, 132 W. 300 N., Malad, on Monday, June 21, at noon. Friends may call at the funeral home Sunday evening, June 20, from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m., and on Monday one hour prior to services. Burial will be in the Malad City Cemetery.
