Barbara LaRue Reisner
August 1, 1939 – December 22, 2024
Our loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother, and friend Barbara LaRue Reisner, 85, passed away peacefully on December 22, 2024 in Brigham City, Utah. She was born August 1, 1939 to James H. Gunter and Zelma C. Gunter in Arimo, Idaho. She was the youngest of eight children and was adored by her older siblings. She grew up with a great love for music. Her brother Calvin brought home a piano for her and she taught herself how to play. Calvin loved to hear Barbara play. She ended up teaching over one hundred piano students, accompanied hundreds of vocalists and/or instruments, played for countless funerals, and accompanied church choirs and congregations. She was an organist for over forty years and brought light, joy, and peace through her music. Her love and talent for music has touched thousands of lives. She had a special touch that brought the right feeling to any musical piece.
She met her sweetheart, Norman Reisner, at thirteen years old while picking potatoes. They would have celebrated seventy amazing years in February as they were married on February 12, 1955 in Virginia, Idaho. They were later sealed for eternity in the Logan, Utah LDS temple. She has eight children who love her dearly.
What mattered most to her was her sweetheart, children, and grandchildren. She loved laughing and spending time with her sisters. She had a special talent for floral arranging and sewing. She was creative and paid great attention to detail. Her sense of humor brightened a room and brought tears of laughter. She shared that sense of humor to the end.
Barbara served in many callings in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and had a very strong testimony. She and Norman served in the Pocatello, Idaho Mission and were temple workers. These callings brought her great joy.
Barbara is survived by her husband Norman and children Bonita Damewood, Jerry (Debbie) Reisner, Darwin Reisner, Laurell Harris, Marla (Rick) Young, and Bobbi (Paul) Luker. She has twenty-four grandchildren, fifty-eight great grandchildren, and sixteen great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, daughter Berdine, son Rondell, and one great grand baby Adelyn Grace.
