Anna G. Nish

Anna G. Nish, 21 December 1913

God knew that you were suffering, that hills were hard to climb, so He gently closed your eyelids and whispered, “Peace be thine.” In tears we watched you sinking, we watched you fade away, our hearts were nearly broken, you fought so hard to stay. It broke our hearts to have you go, but you did not go alone, for part of us went with you the day God called you home.

Our dear beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother, sister and friend, Anna Nish, left this mortal life after a long and valiant battle with many health problems and challenges on this earth. She was called home by our Heavenly Father on April 26, 1996. She was born to Martin and Ruth Ann Thomas Goddard on December 21, 1913 in Malad, Oneida County, ID. She married Newell A. Nish on July 7, 1930 in Malad, ID. They were blessed with six children. Anna spent her early life in Malad where she attended school. After her marriage, she moved to Plymouth, UT where she spent the remainder of her life, except for 22 summers on their farm in Montana.

A kind, loving person has left us, leaving a void to all who knew and loved her. She left a rich legacy through her many qualities and attributes. She loved her family and enjoyed reading, crocheting and doing quilts. She baked the best bread and pies in the world. She was a wonderful homemaker and taught her children well.

She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Their marriage was solemnized in the Logan Temple on March 31, 1938. She served in the MIA, Primary and as a counselor and secretary in the Relief Society presidency. She was a faithful visiting teacher for many years.

Anna was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers and three sisters, one great grandson and one great granddaughter. She is survived by her husband, Newell, and children Robert M. (Shirley), Yerington, NV; Ruth Elaine (Joseph) Stokes, Plymouth; Donald N. (Barbara), Bountiful; Deanna (Udell) Godfrey, Clarkston; Carrie June Keller, St. George and Verl G., Garland. She is survived by 30 grandchildren; 41 great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren and four sisters, Elizabeth Reynolds, Malad, ID; Charlotte Koer, West Valley; Janette Bailey, Magna; and June Thompson, Odessa, TX.

Funeral services were held May 1, 1996. Interment was in the Plymouth Cemetery.
