Alton Edward Wade


OGDEN – Alton Edward Wade, 88, died Monday, December 14, 1998, in a local rest home.
He was born March 18, 1910, in Stone, Idaho, a son of George and Mary Ann Barnett Wade.
In July of 1935, Alton married Marjorie Estelle Hunt. Marjorie passed away December 2, 1977. Alton later married Irene Stocker on December 19, 1989.
He was a member of the Ogden East 41st LDS Ward.
Because of his love for building and construction, Alton owned and operated Wade’s Construction Company of Ogden for 60 years, retiring in 1986.
Alton was a member of the Ogden Elks and Ogden Eagles Organizations. He was the first president of the Weber Basin Home Builder’s Association, and a chairman and member of the Ogden City Planning Commission.
Alt enjoyed the great outdoors all of his life. He was an avid fisherman and hunter. He also enjoyed an occasional round of golf with friends.
Alt had a great and lasting love for all of his family.
Surviving are his wife, Irene, of Ogden; two sons and one daughter, Gene (Cheryl) Wade, Ogden; Jerry (Lynne) Wade, North Ogden; Kay Zaugg, Beaverton, Oregon; five step-children; 10 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and numerous step-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren.
Also surviving are three brothers, Blaine Wade, North Ogden; Robert Wade, Kaysville; Dean Wade, Vista, Calif.; and two sisters, Anna Beth Farr, Dana Point, Calif.; and Shirley Rhine, Lompoc, Calif.
Alton was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 1 p.m. at Lindquists Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.
Family will meet friends at the mortuary on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday 11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m.
Interment, Lindquist’s Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, 1718 Combe Road.
