Ada May Bertschi Gardner

GARDNER, ADA MAY BERTSCHI

Ada May Bertschi Gardner, 90, died June 16, 1986 in Brigham City, Utah.

She was born May 15, 1896 in Camas Prairie, WA, to Albert and Delcina Cole Bertschi. She grew up and was educated in Glenwood, WA.

She left in 1918 to attend telegrapher’s school in Portland, OR. While in Portland, she had been on the administrative staff of the Pantages Theatre and had attended the Conservatory of Music.

She married Charles B. Gardner June 1, 1920 in Vancouver, WA. He died in 1970.

She was active in the Gardner Well Drilling Co. in Malad for more than 60 years. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church, Acacia Chapter No. 69 of the Order of the Eastern Star, and the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 65. For many years, she enjoyed playing the piano.

She is survived by one daughter, May Irene Gardner, San Francisco, CA; seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Bernard Gardner; five brothers and sisters, and one grandson, Jason Gardner.

Funeral services will be Thursday at noon in the Benson-Horsley Funeral Home in Malad with Bishop Merlin Bastian officiating. Burial will be in the Malad City Cemetery.
