Willard Archibald, (1902)

Willard Archibald, 83, of Pocatello, died Sunday, March 9, 1986, at his home following an extended illness.

He was born April 11, 1902 in Daniels, to Willard James S. and Lara Elizabeth Bigler Archibald.

On September 22, 1926, he married Thelma May Hill in Malad. She died August 2, 1927. On June 1, 1929 he married Edith Margaret Hill in Pocatello.

He attended school in Daniels, where he had lived from 1902 until 1929. After leaving Daniels, he moved to Pocatello where he had resided until his death. He farmed in Daniels from 1920 to 1929 and in Arbon Valley from 1929 to 1933. During this time, he was also employed as a carman machinist for the Pacific Fruit Express until 1969.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and being outdoors. He was a member of the 19th Ward LDS Church. He served as an usher and home teacher and was a high priest at the time of his death.

Survivors include his wife; one son, Ivan Archibald, Lander, Wyoming; three daughters, Mrs. Keith (Thelma May) Godfrey, Mrs. Roger (Wilda Ann) Armstrong and Mrs. George (Margaret) Millward, Pocatello; three brothers, Arnold Archibald and Chester Archibald of Pocatello; Bruce Archibald, Moab, Utah; 23 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Funeral services were held Wednesday (March 12, 1986) at 1:00 p.m. at the 19th Ward LDS chapel with Bishop Patrick Baker officiating.

Burial was in the St. John Cemetery.
