Helen Lamont Gleed

Helen Lamont Gleed, 94, passed away peacefully January 9, 2014, at the Oneida County Hospital. She was born March 10, 1919, in Logan, Utah, the second child and daughter of Robert Parker Lamont and Annie Pearson Lamont. On June 2, 1939, Helen Married her sweetheart John Clifford Gleed in Ogden, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan Temple on March 17, 1965. Helen was a tireless worker who was not only a full-time homemaker but helped Clifford with the many tasks of up-keeping a farm. Together, she and Clifford had four children. From those four children, came numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, in whom Helen found great joy. She was a loving, compassionate and supportive mother, grandmother, sister and friend who will be deeply missed. Helen was a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints who faithfully served in various callings. One of the attributes her family came to admire was her deep abiding faith in the church. She also loved the temple and family history work and shared the stories and legacy of her ancestors with her family. Helen loved flowers of all kinds. She had a garden outside and found joy in watching her roses bloom every year. She also kept many beloved flowers inside and tenderly cared for them. She was an avid canner, pickle-maker and was widely known throughout her family and friends for her white bread. Due to complications of health, she moved into the Oneida County Nursing Home in 2006 to receive more skilled care She enjoyed the friendships and associations she made during the eight years she spent there. Surviving are three of her four children. Gerald Gleed, Arizona; Carma (Lou) Slater, Bountiful UT; and Regina (Rex) Coburn, Malad ID. She is also survived by her youngest brother Lee R Lamont, Ogden UT. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Clifford and son John Clifford Gleed Jr. Funeral services are being held Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2014, at the Horsley Funeral Home, Intermit at the Malad City Cemetery. Our family wishes to express sincere thanks to the staff of the Oneida County Nursing Home and Hospital for the countless hours of care and service to our beloved mother. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 15, 2014, at 12 noon in the Horsley Funeral Home, 132 W. 300 N. Friends may visit with the family at the funeral home from 10:30-11:45 a.m. on Wednesday morning prior to the service. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Horsley Funeral Home.
