Edward Varlo Price

MALAD – Edward Varlo Price, 73, passed away Friday, Feb. 27, 1998, in the Oneida County Hospital of heart failure.
He was born July 31, 1924, in Malad, Idaho, a son of Edward Jenkin and Sara Blanche Chivers Price. He was raised and educated in Malad.
On June 13, 1942, he married Nora Williams in Malad. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan LDS Tem¬ple. Varlo served his country during World War II in the Army from 1944 to 1946. Most of his life was spent farming and ranching around the Malad Valley, Parma and Darlington, Idaho. He always had good horses, good cattle and a good cattle dog. He loved roping and fishing, but most of all, working with his horses. He was a member of the Idaho Cattlemen’s Association and served as president of the Pass Creek Cattlemen’s Association while living in Darlington. He was also a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Upon retiring in 1983, he and his wife, Nora, returned to Malad.
He is survived by his wife of 55 1/2 years and their six children: two sons, Blaine (Jo Ann) Price, Van (Teri) Price, all of Malad; four daughters, Nonie Sue (Scott) Dowdle of Marsing, Idaho; Louise Price of Malad; Jolene (Dan) Ackerman of Spokane, Wash.; and La Nora Corgatelli of Portage, Utah; 30 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren; two brothers, De Von (Mary) Price of Ogden, Utah; Neal (Nancy) Price of Fair Oaks, Calif.; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters. Velda Price and La Phane Hess; and one brother, Odell Price.
Funeral services will be held Monday, March 2, 1998, at 12 noon in the Malad LDS Stake Chapel, 400 N. 200 W. Friends may call at the Benson-Horsley Funeral Home, 132 N. 200 W. Friends may call at the Benson-Horsley Funeral Home, 132 W. 300 N. on Sunday evening from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and on Monday at the funeral home from 10:30 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. Burial will be in the Malad City Cemetery with military rites by the American Legion, Ernest W. Jones Post #65.
