He was born March 13, 1937, on the Tripp family homestead on the east bench in Arimo, Idaho, to Leslie and Martha Crysta Tripp. In his early childhood, the family moved into the town of Arimo where he lived through his late teens.

Reynold was the 10th of 12 children. He attended schools in Arimo until his 10th year when he went to work in a sawmill to help support the family. After a few years at the sawmill, he went to work for a glass company. He spent the majority of his working life working in this industry. He completed his basic training for the Army National Guard in Kentucky where he was a sharpshooter and marksman. He served for five years and nine months before receiving an honorable discharge.

On September 30, 1960, Reyn and Patricia Ann Lewis were married. The couple lived for a few years in Arimo before moving to Malad where they both lived for the remainder of their lives. He received his nickname, Rowdy Reyn, while playing city league basketball because of his rough playing style. Reyn loved to golf and bowl and did both until age wouldn’t permit anymore. He spent the later years of his life enjoying grandkids and their sports. He lived for going to their games.

Reynold was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia; his sisters Vella, Letha, Genny and Bessy; and two baby siblings.
