Merle Coffin Tippets

Arimo….Merle Coffin Tippets, 90, of Arimo, passed away on Tuesday, November 2, 2010, with daughters, LaRitta and Betty and granddaughter Shayanne by her side. Merle was born June 18, 1920, in Downey, Idaho, a daughter of Clarence and Sodonia Thompson
Coffin. She was raised and educated in Arimo and was a graduate of Arimo High School. She married Wilson Dustin Tippets on June 5, 1940, in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. Wilson passed away November 24, 2004. Following their marriage, they settled in Arimo and for many years farmed and ranched there. Merle was employed for several years with the Marsh Valley School district. During WWll, she was a volunteer “sky-watcher”. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and had served in the Primary, Sunday School, Scouting and had held various other positions through the years. She with her husband Wilson had served a temple mission to the Logan LDS Temple. Merle enjoyed all kinds of handwork, such as sewing and embroidering. She also found great pleasure in service to others. Her great love and devotion was to her family. She is survived by her four children; LaRitta, of Chubbuck; Glade and Emily of Soda Springs; Ned and Rita of Pocatello: Betty (Kevin) Windley of Magna, Utah. 10 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren; 1 sister; Burna “Bunnie” (Wayne) Fernilious of Washington D.C.. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a grandchild, 2 brothers and 4 sisters. Graveside services will be held on Saturday, November 6, 2010, at 11:00 am at the Arimo Cemetery. Friends may visit with the Tippets family on Friday evening from 6-8 pm at Horsley’s Marsh Valley Funeral Home 570 N. Meadowview Dr. in Arimo, and on Saturday at the funeral home from 9:30-10:30 am
