Maureen Camp Thomas

Malad – Maureen Camp Thomas, 62, of Malad, died Friday July 30, 1993, at his home following a long illness.

She was born November 9, 1930, in Malad, a daughter of Leo M. (L.M) and Elvareen Beeton Camp. She was raised and educated in Malad, and was a graduate of Malad High School. She married Samuel Monte Thomas December 8, 1948, in Malad.

After her marriage she and her husband moved to California, where she worked as a nurse for several years. She was later employed by Hughes Aircraft, and for seven years had worked for the U.S. Postal Service. In 1991 she returned to Malad.

She had been an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day-Saints, where she served in the MIA as president, in the Relief Society Presidency, Cub Scout leader, Sunday School teacher, and Relief Society teacher for many years.

She was a member of the Literary Club, PTA, charter member of the Bridgette’s Club, and had been involved in the Indian placement and Foreign Student Exchange programs for several years.

She is survived by her husband, Monte Thomas, Malad; two sons, Max L. and Mark A., both of Malad; one daughter and husband, Mrs. Verlin Wayne (Annette) Williams, Malad; six grandchildren; one brother, Richard Cecil Camp, of Pinole, California; and two sisters, Virginia Goddard, Highland, Calif., and Lavella Jenson, of Vacaville, Calif.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Aug 3, at noon in the Malad LDS First Ward Chapel. Bishop Jared Crowther officiating. Friends may call tonight at the Benson-Horsley Funeral Home in Malad, 132 W 300 N., from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., and on Tuesday at the funeral home from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Burial will be in the Malad City Cemetery.
