Fern Daniels Thomas

MALAD — Fern Daniels Thomas, 68, wife of Dale Thomas, passed away on Friday, April 13, 2001, at her home of cancer.
She was born February 15, 1933, in Malad, a daughter of Leroy Owens and Mary Lorraine Price Daniels. She grew up in Malad and graduated from Malad High School, class of 1951.
Fern married Dale J. Thomas September 10, 1951, in Logan, Utah. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where she had served in many positions. She was also a member of CowBelles, being the president in 1971. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and had held several local and state positions.
Fern worked at Evans Coop, the Millstream Grocery, the state liquor store and as a C.N.A. at the Oneida County Nursing Home. She also belonged to the Arcadia Bridge Club and was a 4-H leader for several years. She loved to attend rodeos and to travel.
Fern was a devoted wife, mother, sister, friend and neighbor. She is survived by her husband, Dale of St. John; a daughter, Susan (Chris) Bowen of St. John; and a son, Dale Leroy (Denise) Thomas, also of St. John; two brothers, Farrell (Thelma) Daniels of Malad, and Rex (Gloria) Daniels of St. John; four sisters, Lorraine (Dale) Blaisdell, Thelma (Howard) Wakley, Lela (Reed) Henderson, Deon (Carol) Jones, all of Malad; sisters-in-law, Mary Lou (Dean) Williams of Pocatello and Barbara Thomas of Las Vegas, Nevada. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Tyrell, Taija and Taylor Bowen and Brittney Thomas.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Ralph Leroy Daniels and Brig J. Daniels; and a grandson, Trevor Lee Bowen.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 16, 2001, at 12 noon in the Malad LDS Stake Chapel. Friends may call at the Horsley Funeral Home, 132 W. 300 N., Malad, this evening from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and on Monday at the funeral home from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Burial will be in the St. John Cemetery.
