Malad……Annie DePhane King Taylor, 92, beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother aunt and friend, passed away on January 28, 2011, 28 years to the day after her beloved husband, Tommy, passed away.
She is the quintessential example of enduring to the end. DePhane was born May 2, 1918, in Malad City, Idaho a daughter of Rollins W. and Mary Bell Jones King. She had a happy childhood, surrounded by a loving family. She graduated from Malad High School and attended Utah State Agricultural College. It was there that she met the love of her life, Elmer B. “Tommy” Taylor. They were married on January 26, 1938, and were later sealed for time and eternity in the Logan LDS Temple on April 23, 1941. She was a devoted daughter, wife and mother. Family was always her top priority. DePhane used her many talents to serve others. She kept a spotless home and loved to sew for her daughters, bake pies for their cafe, “Tommy”s Lunch”, and crochet afghans for all her family. She enjoyed playing the piano and learned to play the violin in 1975 as therapy following breast cancer. After Tommy died in 1983, she took up stained glass work, making many beautiful pieces for friends and family. Her last project was a rose applique quilt. Any visitor to her home could count on a good meal topped off by a piece of “Duff’s Cake” A lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, she served faithfully in many callings in all the church auxiliaries. she also served two stake missions and especially enjoyed her years doing Spanish extraction. DePhane learned the virtue of hard work from her mother, started working at age 16 and had been employed in various jobs throughout her life. Following retirement from Ireland Bank in 1983, she enjoyed traveling, attending the temple, genealogy work and spending time with her family. She is survived by her two daughters; Janeece (Brent) Stock of Bountiful, Utah; Marlys (Gary) Carter of West Yellowstone, Montana; 8 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. she was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a daughter; Shaundel Richards; a brother, a sister, and a great-grandson. The family expresses deepest appreciation for the tender love and care given by Dr. Stephen Johnson, Dr. Anderson and the staff at the Oneida CO. Hospital and Long Term Care facility. Services will be held on Tuesday, February 1, 2011, at 12 noon in the Horsley Funeral Home 132 W. 300 N. Friends may visit with the family on Tuesday prior to services from 10:30-11:45 am.
