Lillian, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother passed away on October 19, 2013, in Malad, Idaho. She was born February 13, 1920, in Malad, Idaho. She was the third of seven children born to Lillian Owen Thomas and Oliver David Thomas. Lillian attended schools in Malad, Idaho, Fielding, Utah and Salt Lake City, Utah. Lillian, better known as “Lil”, dearly loved her family and many friends. You always felt welcome in her home. She was blessed with a wonderful personality, a great sense of humor, and a talent for cooking. Many of her nieces, nephews, and grandchildren fondly remember spending some of their summer vacations on the “farm”. Andie and Lillian always planted a large garden, and what she didn’t preserve was always shared with family and friends. Lil won numerous awards at the Oneida County Fair for her bread, cinnamon rolls, candy, homegrown vegetables, and flowers. Lillian was employed at the Oneida county School district as a cook for 20 years in the lunch program until her retirement. She delighted in being able to see some of her grandchildren each day while serving them their lunch at school. She was a pink lady and also provided many years of volunteer service at the Oneida County Long Term Care facility. In 2005 she was honored by the hospital as the Volunteer of the Year. In 2010, she was honored as the Malad City Volunteer of the Year. She cherished getting to spend her Sunday’s going to church with the residents at the nursing home. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in numerous callings in the St. John Ward. Lillian is survived by her son Doyle Talbot; Malad, Idaho, daughter Camille (Fred) Uhler’ Kirkland, Washington, daughter-in-law Peggy Talbot; Temecula, California. She is also survived by her 14 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Andie M. Talbot, son Gary Talbot, parents, brothers David Thomas and Donald R. Edginton, sisters Doloris Smith, Lorraine Thomas, Nadean Dives, and Estell Metcalf.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 25, 2013, at 12 noon in the Malad LDS Stake Chapel, 1100 N. 1250 W. Friends may visit with the family on Thursday evening from 6-8 pm at the Horsley Funeral Home 132 W. 300 N. and on Friday at the funeral home from 10:30-11:30 am.
