Roland B. Jones

Roland B. Jones, 85, Malad, Idaho, passed away Wednesday, September 12, 2001, in the Oneida County Long-Term Care Facility of lung disease.
He was born September 10, 1916, in Malad, Idaho, a son of Bernard A. and Mary Jones Jones. He was raised and educated in Malad, and was a graduate of Malad High School, where he was quarterback for the football team. He later attended Henager’s College in Salt Lake City, Utah.
He worked in the Salt Lake Hardware in the winters and Jones Hardware for his dad in the summers.
He married Nada Jones on June 23, 1939, in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple.
He was secretary of the Oneida County Ration Board before being drafted into the Army. He and his brother, Keith, later purchased the hardware from the family, from which he retired in 1994.
He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He enjoyed hunting of all kinds, and loved football.
He is survived by one son, James B. (Judy) Jones, Malad, Idaho; three daughters, Kathleen (Ralph) Burton, Las Vegas, Nevada, Rosalind (Ron) Budge Troutdale, Oregon, and Sheena (Alan) Gardner, Gillette, Wyoming; 18 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mabel Gabbott, Bountiful, Utah, and Leah Schutt, Otis, Oregon; two brothers, J.Blair Jones, Farmington, Utah, and Ted Jones, Scottsdale, Arizona.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Elaine Castleton and Edith Doutre; two brothers, Bill Jones and Keith Jones; his wife, two sons, one grandson and one great-grandson.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, September 15, 2001, in the Malad Sixth Ward Chapel. Burial was in the Malad City Cemetery.
