Claude D. Jones

POCATELLO – Claude D. Jones 78, Pocatello, died Sunday, November 15, 1998 at a local medical center.

He was born November 15, 1920 in Malad, Idaho, to Simeon D. and Leda Hughes Jones. He was reared and educated in Blackfoot, Idaho.

He married Lucille Lamont June 30, 1947 in Dillon, Montana, and she preceded him in death on December 24, 1995.

He served his country in the Army during World War II. He was a baker by trade. He owned and operated his own bakery in Salmon, Idaho. Later he was employed by Albertson’s as a baker and manager retiring in 1986.

He was an avid sportsman, particularly loving fishing, hunting and camping. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

He is survived by two sons, Lamont (Sharon) Prestwich of Boise, Idaho, Tracy (Suzette) Jones of Pocatello; two daughters, Deborah (Frank) Byrd of Menan, Idaho, and Ann (Frank) Merendino of Bothell, Washington; 12 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; three sisters, Theona, Renae, Leonore; and five brothers, Terrel, Robert, Eldon, Earl and Leo. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille, his parents, one son and one daughter, and seven brothers and sisters.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, November 19, 1998 at 11 a.m. in the Pocatello LDS 27th Ward Chapel, 300 East Chapel Street, Pocatello, with Bishop Eric Hymas officiating. The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening, Nov. 18, from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Henderson-Cornelison Funeral Home, 431 North 15th Ave., Pocatello, and one hour prior to the services on Thursday at the church. Interment will be in the Grove City Cemetery in Blackfoot, Idaho.
