(June 2, 1921 – February 9, 2014) 

“Mom” was called home to her heavenly father after a long productive life on a snowy Sunday morning surrounded by her family at the Oneida County Nursing Home. Born on June 2, 1921 in the family home in Cherry Creek, Idaho, the second daughter, third child of Benjamin and Nora Urilla (Bell) Williams. Many fond memories were told by “Mom” about her many adventures and treasured memories of Cherry Creek. The “Williams” family ended up being five sons and two daughters and were a very close knit family throughout their lifetimes. The closest bond was with her only sister, Mona, who fortunately moved to Malad fourteen years ago and they were once again able to spend every single day together living only a block away from each other. It was on May 21, 1941 that “Mom” became the beautiful young wife of a dashing young man by the name of Cecil John, who “Mom” proudly told us was sought after by all the pretty young ladies of even the big town of Malad. Together, they started their own family before Cecil was drafted in the US Navy during World War II. Mom told us many times of her daily trip to the Malad Post Office to view the daily list of the days casualties of the many Oneida County Servicemen. “Mom” fit the definition perfectly and was always home when we needed her with three home made meals a day at precise times and rules that we knew we better abide by. The only time she could not be reached was when she was delivering and picking up students on the Oneida County School Bus, a part time job that she took very seriously and loved.

Mom will be deeply missed by her three children; two daughters Vicki (Albert) Ekstrom, Linda (Ron) Picard and her son, Larry (Terri) John; she is also survived by two brothers of Malad; Grant O. Williams and Kenneth Ray Williams and a sister-in-law; Grace Williams. Grandma “Bean” was extremely proud and very involved in her eleven grandchildren lives and although not in good health, she was glad hear that seven great grand-grandchildren had arrived safely.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Thomas John; 3 brothers and a beloved sister; son-in-law, Craig Daniels and grandson, Lance John.
