Kate Evans Edwards

June 21, 1911 – September 24, 1990

Kate Evans Edwards, 79, of Malad, died Monday, September 24 at Pocatello Regional Medical Center of heart failure.

She was born June 21, 1911 in Malad to Daniel K. and Sarah Jane Jones Evans. She was raised and educated in Malad and graduated from Malad High School in 1930.

She married Warren W. Edwards on January 28, 1928 in Malad. The marriage was later solemnized on July 20, 1965. He died June 29, 1972.

After her marriage she lived in St. John for a short time. Later she moved to a ranch in Pleasantview. She lived in Malad since 1964.

She was a cook in the Oneida County Hospital for 25 years.

She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in Relief Society, Young Women’s Program, as a visiting teacher and in Primary. She also worked in genealogy. She was a member of the Oneida County War Mothers.

She made and donated many blankets and doll quilts to Primary Children’s Hospital, and won many ribbons at the fair with her quilts and flowers. She enjoyed gardening and raising flowers.

She is survived by seven sons and three daughters, Stanley Warren Edwards, Orlando, Florida; Thomas Cleon and David Jerald Edwards, both of Malad; Daniel Keith Edwards, Chicago, IL; Darrell Max Edwards, Matoon, IL; Lorenzo Ralph “Ren” Edwards, Pocatello; Kelly Ray Edwards, Nyssa, OR; Mrs. Gary (Kathleen) Allen, Mrs. Terrel (Carol Anna) Jones, and Mrs. Frank (Donna Gayle) Madsen, all of Malad; 38 grandchildren; 56 great grandchildren and one brother, Daniel K. Evans, Las Vegas, NV and four sisters, Mrs. Mary (May) Williams, Mrs. Louis (Anna) Jones, Mrs. Bland (Ardell) Williams, all of Malad, and Mrs. Orlin (Myrle) Hess, Long Beach, CA. She was preceded in death by a brother and one sister.

Funeral services will be Thursday in the Malad LDS Third Ward Chapel. Bishop Frank Madsen will officiate. Burial will be in the Pleasantview Cemetery.
