Daniel K. Evans

Funeral Services for Daniel K. Evans, 73, building contractor, were held January 6, 1960 at the Malad LDS Stake Building with Bishop Colen H. Sweeten, Jr., officiating. Mr. Evans died January 3, 1960 at the Oneida Hospital following a stroke.

Mr. Evans was born December 13, 1886 at Malad, the son of Daniel R. and Elizabeth Ann Colton Evans. Reared and educated here, he married Janie Jones, December 25, 1905 at Malad. The marriage was solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple in 1921.

First associated with his father as a builder, Mr. Evans was engaged in carpentry and construction work all of his adult life and formed the firm of Dan K. Evans & Sons with his sons, Daniel J. and William G. in 1946. In addition to many homes in this area, Mr. Evans also built several church and school buildings in the western part of the county.

A member of the LDS Church, Mr. Evans served as a Malad City councilman for several years; was a member of the Chamber of Commerce and a past president of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Malad Aerie No. 2042.

Mr. Evans is survived by his wife, two sons, Daniel J. and William G. Evans, Malad; five daughters, Mrs. John M. (Mae) Williams, Mrs. Warren (Kate) Edwards, Mrs. Bland (Ardell) Williams, all of Malad; Mrs. Lewis (Anna) Jones, Logan; Mrs. Orlin (Myrl) Hess, Loguna Beach, CA; 33 grandchildren; 33 great grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Alice Peabody, Miss Sarah Evans and Miss Charlotte Evans, Malad.
