1932 – 2026
Ruth was born on August 14th, 1932 and passed away on October 8th, 2026 at the age of 94.
It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Ruth Ione Plummer Zivkovic, known to us as Ruth, on October 8, 2026. Born on August 14, 1932 in Sioux City, IA, Ruth was a resident of Malad, Idaho at the time of her passing. She was of a kind and generous heart, a beacon of strength and humility, and a testament to the power of resilience and hard work.
Ruth’s professional life was marked by dedication and excellence. She served as an Industrial Engineer for 16 years at Brigham Apparel, Brigham City, Utah. Her commitment to her work stretched beyond the confines of her office, as she was an active participant in the Quilt Guild, often donating sewing machines and material. Ruth’s personal life was equally as enriching. She was a passionate Master Gardner and an award-winning quilter, frequently gifting her beautiful handmade quilts to family and friends. Ruth’s travels took her around the world, but she was always happiest when she was helping others with their gardening.
Throughout her life, Ruth was the recipient of numerous awards and recognitions. She was named Homemaker of the Year for 1998 at the Oneida County Fair and served as a Malad City Council Member from January 1998 to December 2001. She was also honored with the Salute to a Leader Award by the Boy Scouts of America in 2001 and recognized for her Community Volunteer Service the same year. Her dedication to her community was evident in her efforts to design, organize funding, and oversee construction of the city’s skate pad in 2000, as well as her involvement in the funding and design of the Malad Main Street Gateway planters. Ruth was a multiple time recipient of the Beautification Award for her yard, a testament to her love for gardening.
Ruth is survived by her son, Andre her daughter, Gina Zivkovic; 10 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Zivko Zivkovic, her son David Zivkovic, her daughter Deanna Zivkovic and her parents, Ernest Plummer and Martha Welke.
