Kathleen (Kathy) Christoffersen
Kathy Christoffersen, the mother of Amy, Ann, and Arie, grandmother to Brooklyn, Jack, and Hannah, died peacefully at home October 10, 2026. She was 80 years old.
Kathy was born to Hannah Lucille Buehler and Melvin Oscar Christoffersen on March 4, 1946, in Malad, Idaho. Kathy cherished her childhood years with her mom, her brother LaVar and sister Elaine, and their families. Her father died when she was 2 years old. Kathy was extremely close to her mother, who taught her the value of hard work, helping others, and always looking your best.
Fond were her memories of Malad friends, years of school, and especially Malad High. In the fall of 1964 Kathy started her college education at Utah State University. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science in elementary education on June 6, 1968.
Kathy was a teacher at many schools around the valley, ending her 30-year career at Cedar Ridge Middle School. She taught English, reading, and social studies to sixth-grade students. She enjoyed teaching the importance of grammar, punctuation, and cursive handwriting. Her students were inspired by her love of literature as she introduced them to magical worlds in her favorite books. She retired from Cache County School District in 2005.
Kathy loved being a mom — helping her daughters with school work, cheering them on, and nurturing their talents. She held her breath as they performed in dance, tennis, and piano events. Kathy loved to travel. She often visited Europe with her daughters, and found joy visiting her grandchildren on the East and West coasts of the United States.
Brooklyn, Jack, and Hannah gave their grandma love and happiness unmeasured. As her 80th birthday approached, Kathy took three last journeys to visit Brooklyn in Florida, Jack in Vermont, and Hannah in Virginia. She loved being a grandma and showered her grandchildren with affection and support, attending their school and sports activities.
Kathy kept a spotless and organized home, and meticulously maintained her yard. Kathy was fiercely independent and believed in a job well done.
She loved to shop, especially at Nordstrom. You’d never see Kathy without every hair in place, perfect makeup, and stylish outfits.
Kathy ran marathons, was an avid reader, a lifelong learner, followed political news, and spent many years studying Spanish. She was a talented seamstress. Kathy also enjoyed making beautiful minky blankets and quilts, gifting family and friends with perfectly stitched, cozy reminders of her love.
Because of Kathy’s charming personality, she easily made friends everywhere she went. She lived in the same Logan home for more than 35 years, cultivating a community with friends who became family.
Always willing to help others, Kathy led a life of service. She was a dedicated mom, grandma, daughter, sister, aunt, friend, neighbor, and disciple of Christ. She wanted the best for everyone and gave her best to all.
Kathy was preceded in death by her daughter Ann Wilde, granddaughter Emily Taylor, her parents, brother LaVar Christoffersen, and sister Elaine Rogers.
She is survived by her children Amy Wilde-Taylor (John) and Arie Kirk Stucki (Tavin), and her grandchildren Brooklyn Cielle Taylor, Jack Tobin Taylor, and Hannah Stucki.
Kathy’s family is incredibly grateful to all those who cared for her, especially Beckie, Bonnie, Kellianne, Jamie, and many friends and neighbors.
A gathering will be held from 10:30-11:30 a.m. Tuesday, October 20, at Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 E. Center Street in Logan. The funeral is at noon Tuesday, October 20, also at Allen-Hall Mortuary. She will be buried in the Logan Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Horsley Funeral Homes.
