Wilford Penn Crowther

Our beloved husband, dad, and grandpa, Wilford Penn Crowther, peacefully passed away due to natural causes on February 21, 2003.

Wilford was born October 8, 1931 to Junius L. and Mary Dredge Crowther in Chambersburg, PA. Shortly after the family would make their home in Malad, ID, where Wilford would grow up and later graduate from Malad High School. The community of Malad, his classmates and friends would remain cherished by him all the days of his life. On June 29, 1970, he married Marjean Gibson in the Salt lake Temple.

Wilford lived a full and interesting life. At a young age he learned to fly and received his pilot’s license. He would later work as an air traffic controller for the FAA. He also worked for Hill Air Force Base. He loved learning and the sciences especially fascinated him. He attended Salt Lake Community College, Utah State and Brigham Young University. His greatest hobby was inventing. He loved to creatively think of new ideas that would make life simpler and better. One of his greatest gifts, however, was making the lives of others brighter and happier by his gentle wit and genuine interest in their lives and well being.

Wilford loved the gospel of Jesus Christ. He had a great testimony of the Savior, the atonement and of the plan of salvation. He faithfully served in every calling extended to him. He served an honorable Stake Mission. He, above all, will be remembered by many as a faithful, attentive and loving home teacher.

He is survived by his wife, Marjean, and by his three children, who will be forever grateful for hi valiant example and love: Trina (Troy) Garlick, Timothy (Diane) Crowther and jay Todd Crowther. He will be remembered lovingly by his grandchildren: Joshua, Tyler and Emily Ann. He is also survived by his loving siblings who were a great strength to him in his life: Ray Sheldon (Sharolyn) Crowther, Orem; Carol (Dee) Sharp, Orem; Carma (John) Daley, Moab; Rosemary (Leo) Wilcox, Farmington; and Vella (Keith) Perkins, Orem.
