Genavie Wakley Colton

COLTON, GENAVIE WAKLEY – September 12, 1923 – December 20, 1006

Genavie Wakley Colton, 83, wife of the late Thomas T. Colton, left this life on December 20, 1006, to be in the arms of her loving and eternal partner, Tom.

Shw as born on September 12, 1923 in Downey, Idaho, a daughter of John Willard and Cora Barnes Wakley. She was educated there and from an early age, worked along side her mother and three sisters to feed and clothe her father and seven brothers, as they worked the family farm.

She and Tom were married on October 22, 1941 in Pocatello. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple on June 22, 1948. They lived in Malad their entire married life, and except for Tom’s service in WWII, they were inseparable for 58 years until Tom’s passing in 1999.

She is survived by one daughter, Sheila Ann (Alan) Swensson of Rupert, Idahp one son, Thomas L. Colton of Malad; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and one brother, howard (Thelma) Wakley of Malad.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Tom; six brothers: Larma, Pete, Arly, Dale, Dean and Ben; three sisters; Jenny Leigh, Melba Toponce and Verna Stuart.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, December 23, 2006. Burial will follow in the Malad City Cemetery.
