Laura Bowen to celebrate 90th birthday 

The family of Laura Reese Bowen will honor her on her 90th birthday at an Open House, Sunday, October 8, 1989, where friends and relatives may greet her from 2:00 pm. to 5:00 p.m. at the Senior  Citizens Center in Malad, Idaho.  There will be a program at 3:30 p.m. They request no gifts please. 

Laura was born to Lorenzo Louis Reese and Elva Daniels Reese on October 10, 1899, in Malad Idaho.  She was the youngest of four children.  She has spent most of her life in Malad and the surrounding area, except for a few years spent in Provo, Utah.   

Mrs. Bowen married Clyde Bowen December 11, 1919, in Brigham City, Utah.  Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan Temple, June 8, 1951.  They were parents of nine children. 

Laura has worked at many different jobs during her lifetime, the longest lasting one being a mother and wife.  She worked as a telephone operator for a time after high school graduation, then as a store clerk, and as a secretary, and in the school lunch program in the Provo area.  

Being active in her church Laura, has held many different positions through the years working in all the auxiliaries at various times.  She is also very active in civic affairs and still attends American War Mothers, and Daughters of Utah Pioneers on a regular basis. 

Mrs. Bowen has 35 grandchildren, 108 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren.  Their family gets together often and Clyde and Laura enjoy these times very much. 

Their children are Annie Woolzley, deceased, LaVar Clyde, Robert Grant, Walter Thayne, deceased, Helen Harris, Ren Ray, Kathaleen Nelson, John Earl, deceased, and George Reese.
