Richard Lynn Rice, (1938)

Richard Lynn Rice, known affectionately to many as Dick, completed his earthly journey on June 27, 2025. He was born on November 7, 1938, in Malad, Idaho, to Edmund and Melba Evans Rice. Dick was an individual who lived his life with unwavering dedication to his passions and a heart full of love for those around him.

Dick spent many cherished years with his beloved wife, Evelyn Johns, whom he married in the Logan Temple on May 28, 1965. Although Evelyn preceded him in death, their love story, full of shared experiences and mutual respect, continues to inspire those who were fortunate to know them. Richard taught for 30 years in the Ogden School District as a math teacher whose love for numbers was only surpassed by his love for his students. He loved sports, especially track and cross country. He worked as a both a track coach and basketball coach. He dedicated his life to the field of education, profoundly impacting countless lives along the way. He was known for his patience, his ability to make complex problems seem simple, and his knack for instilling confidence in his students.

He was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served faithfully in his church callings and enjoyed 12 years as a supervisor in the Ogden Temple. He also served as a bishop, always taking special care of the widows in his neighborhood ward. He served an LDS mission to England as a young man.

He is survived by his sister Lorene Summers, brother Clayne Jensen, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, parents, stepfather Harvey Jensen, sister Lorna Reid, and brother Odell Rice.

In celebration of Richard’s life, we invite you to share your memories and photos on his memorial page. Your stories and pictures will serve as a lasting tribute to the wonderful
