Elda Mae Price
October 27, 1936 – July 9, 2025
Early on the morning of July 9, 2025, surrounded by her loving second family at Neil J. Redfield nursing home, Elda Mae Price was reunited with her husband who had passed 16 years before. How sweet the reunion.
On October 27, 1936, Elda Mae Williams was born to Samuel Verlin and Mary Elizabeth Williams in Malad, Idaho. She was the 1st girl and 5th child of 7. She worked at the movie house, and as a telephone operator and helped on the family farm driving truck; her dad Sam would ride alongside her where she said they had many great conversations.
She met the love of her life, Ronald Jones Price, while attending Malad High School and in her senior year he proposed. They were married on April Fool’s Day in 1955in the Logan LDS Temple, a day they both remembered and cherished Ronnie would tell everyone he asked her as an April fool’s joke, but she made him go through with it. Their first 7 years they spent together with family and friends, going on trips and getting together laughing while playing cards and drinking bottles of Pepsi. Then in 1962, they got the call. A baby girl in Boise, Idaho was ready for a home. They quickly went to pick up their first child Ronda Lee, born July 26, 1962. 2 years later a boy, Burke Ronald was placed in their arms born November 22, 1964. No 2 kids could ever be wanted anymore. She would tell us we couldn’t come by US postal service, so we came UPS.
Elda Mae dedicated her life to being an amazing wife, mother, friend and daughter of God. Elda Mae worked for Millstream grocery store, North Ogden High School, Dr Paul Saxton, J.N Ireland Bank, Thiokol, and the Forest and the Forest Service but her favorite was working by her husbands side, remodeling homes or building a business at Price oil.
She held many positions in the LDS Church and her love for the gospel was evident in the life she led. She learned to play the piano at a young age from her mother. Her sister Dixie and brother Wayne would play and sing, with Grandma Williams telling Wayne to hum. Elda Mae had a tight bond with her siblings and their families. When asked, they remembered her joy, laughing, playing games, being dressed to a T, hair done, make-up on, clothes and jewelry all just so, and her love for them. To her, everyone was a friend, and her house was always open to them.
Elda Mae and Ronnie spent every opportunity spending time with their children following them around for dancing and sporting events all over the State. You could always find them in the first row cheering us on. This continued with their grandchildren. Even though they all lived about 2 hours away, that didn’t stop them from making them a priority. This is only one of many things that they left as a legacy.
Her bond with Ronnie transcended time and space. Nothing separated them, not even their children sitting between them.
After Ronnies passing is when Elda Mae met her second family, the staff at Neil J Redfield Nursing home. Ronda and Burke made a promise to Elda Mae that she would always stay in Malad, and they were taught to never break their word. These staff members treated her like a Queen, just like Ronnie did. We are forever grateful for their kindness, love, and patience.
She is survived by her daughter Ronda (Brett) Catmull, Son Burke (Wendy) Price, Grandchildren Colby (Camie) Catmull Whitney (Kenny)Snowball, Brooks (Nicole) Catmull, Ashley Francis,14 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews that have all benefited from her love and knowledge.
She is proceeded in death by her Husband Ronald J Price, 2 grandsons, Jeremey Burke Price, Taylor James Price, 1 great grandchild, Savannah Faith Catmull, Both Parents, Sam and Mary, and all her siblings, Wayne, Don, Burt Tommy, Dixie, and Verlin.
