Weldon Woozley, age 70, passed away May 5, 1991 after fighting a courageous battle with cancer. He was born September 22, 1920 in St. John, Idaho to Edward Jones and Iona Palmer Woozley.
Weldon graduated from Malad High School and LDS Business College. He completed training as a CPA at La Salle Extension University and graduated from Harvard Business College. He served the First Marine Division in the South Pacific and China during World War II. He was employed by Hill Air Force Base in 1942. He was transferred to Wright Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio in 1948 and in 1960 returned to Hill Field where he retired in 1980. He held various accounting and budget positions. He was chief of the Logistics Program Management Office, the deputy Chief of the Logistics Program Management Office, the deputy Chief of the F-4 System Management Division, and deputy chief of the Commodities Division. He was awarded the United States Air Force Exceptional Service Award.
Weldon married Annie Bowen on May 27, 1938. That marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They were blessed with five children, two boys and three girls. Annie died on December 25, 1980. He married Beth Lewis on June 5, 1990. He was a High Priest in the LDS Church.
He is survived by his wife, Beth, Bountiful; a son, Monte, Telluride, Colorado; daughters, Mrs. Robert (Peggy) Byer, Mrs. Larry (Dixie) Jacobs, Bountiful, Suzy Woozley, Salt Lake City, 20 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren. Also survived by father, Edward Woozley, Bountiful; sister, Mrs. Own (Leonore) Stayner, St. George; brother, Winston Woozley, Bethesda, Maryland. He was preceded in death by a son, Tim and his wife Annie.
Funeral services were held Thursday, May 9 in the Bountiful 40th Ward. A viewing was also held on Friday at the Benson-Horsley Funeral Home. Interment was in the Malad City Cemetery.
