John Milton (Bill) Hyde

DOWNEY- John Milton (Bill) Hyde, 93, of Downey, passed away Friday, May 10, 1996, at his home.

He was born May 7, 1903 in Kaysville, Utah, a son of John Simmons and Josie Kinnett Hyde.

He grew up and was educated in Downey, and was a graduate of the LDS High School in Salt Lake City, and later received an automotive diploma in California.

On June 27, 1928 he married Helen Marie Price in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple.

He had been in automotive sales and service of new and used cars from more than 64 years. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and had served in various capacities, including elder’s quorum president and bishop.

He was also active in scouting, and served as president of the Tendoy Council.

He is survived by his wife, Helen, of Downey; one son, Ronald and wife, Beverly Hyde, of West Linn, Oregon; two daughters, Shirley and husband, Seth Evans, of Bayfield, Colorado, and Nola and husband, Jim Gittins, of Smithfield, Utah; 19 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, four brothers and three sisters.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 14, 1996, at noon in the Downey LDS First Ward Chapel, Bishop Lavern Brim officiating,

Friends may call at Horsley’s Marsh Valley Funeral Home in Arimo tonight from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., and Tuesday at the church from 10:30 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. Burial will be in the Downey City Cemetery.
