The oldest child of Orsen Edward and Nora Smith Henderson, born in Robin Idaho on November 24, 1908 at the home of her grandparents, George Alma and Zelnora Glover Smith. She lived in Robin until 1918, when the family moved to Arimo. After graduation from Arimo High School, she married Frederick Leonard Howe on June 12, 1929 in the Logan LDS Temple. He passed away on December 1, 1980. Their first year was spent farming in Arkansas (east of Arimo) where they lived in a cabin with a dirt floor. They moved to Robin where they farmed until 1944 before moving back to Arimo, continuing to farm in Robin, Marsh Center and Hawkins Basin.
Iva was employed by Nelson Lumber and Coal Co. in Arimo for 14 years where she kept the books and learned all aspects of the lumber business. She took pride in that she could cut glass and cut and thread pipe.
In 1957 Iva began training as a Licensed Practical Nurse and worked for 16 years at the Marsh Valley Hospital in Downey, first as an LPN and then as bookkeeper. Iva was active in the church and enjoyed doing Genealogy work and attending the Temple. She made many quilts and crochet items for gifts.
Iva lived alone until the age of 98 when a broken hip limited her activity and she became a resident at the Downey Assisted Living Center.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 2 sisters (Verna Green and Irene Christensen) and daughter Nola Hammon.
She is survived by her children Lowell (Janet) Howe of McCammon and Louise (Loyal) Bellon of Arimo. 11 grandchildren, 38 great grand children and 8 great great grandchildren.
