1935-2024
Robert S. Hunsaker made his journey home on February 29, 2024, surrounded by his family. He was born March 17th, 1935, in Malad, Idaho to Alma Loren and Amelia Camp Hunsaker. He was the youngest of seven children, Albert, Grace, Norma, Ardith, Ruth and Don. He was doted on constantly by his siblings. He was very close to his nieces and nephews. They admired him and loved him dearly. In 1963, he married Anita Miller. They had two sons together, Jeffery Robert and James Ray. They later divorced. In 1977, he met the love of his life and constant companion, Janice Mae Packer. They were married June 28, 1977, and were later sealed in the temple in 1985. They had one daughter, Lori Ann. They had a true partnership. You never saw one without the other, truly an inspiration to all who knew them. Together they built a life they loved. Robert was involved in education all his career. He started off teaching at his alma mater, Box Elder High School. He eventually became a UniServe director handling grievances and negotiations for the teachers’ unions, with this, he was able to go all over the country providing protection for teachers. He was a dedicated member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He held many positions in his lifetime and completed each one to the fullest of his capabilities. He served 6 missions, which he was very proud of. His goal was to donate a tenth of his life to serving the Lord-which he completed! His missions included Texas-Louisiana; Salt Lake City Community College Institute; Bucharest, Romania and Sophia, Bulgaria; Farmington, New Mexico; Utah State Prison and Salt Lake City East Mission. His wife served the last four missions with him. He also loved to serve the people of the church and those who may have lost their way. Some of his most cherished memories are teaching and counseling with these friends. Robert had a very adventurous spirit which pushed him throughout his life to accomplish so many things. He had a love of learning, especially about history. He loved to travel the world and see all the things he had learned about. He believed if you saw things for yourself, you would understand them better. He ended up visiting to 46 countries and 49 states! Robert was a gatherer of men and a hero for so many. The twinkle in his eye and that amazing smile will be missed but will be felt forever. The ripple he created was second to none. He leaves behind his eternal sweetheart, Janice Mae Packer Hunsaker, son Jeffery (Rachel) Hunsaker, son James Hunsaker, and daughter Lori (Cameron) Cronquist, nine grandchildren Jake (Alyssa) Hunsaker, Ethan Hunsaker, Naomi (Hunter) Pearson, Crea Cronquist, Chloe Cronquist and Chayse Cronquist and three great grandchildren Nora Hunsaker, Hazel Hunsaker and Harper Hunsaker. He was preceded in death by his mother, Amelia Camp, and his father, Alma Loren Hunsaker. All his siblings- brother Albert Hunsaker, sister Grace Hunsaker West, sister Norma Hunsaker Spencer Newbold, sister Ardith Hunsaker Pearson, sister Ruth Hunsaker Chlarson and brother Don Hunsaker. The family would like to thank his loving hospice nurse Tamara, his hospice doctor Jill and his physical therapist Rob. We appreciated their help and support more than they know.
