Donne Van Houten

Donne Van Houten, 66, 872 West Alameda, died Thursday, November 11,1993 at a local medical center.

She was born February 3, 1927 at Malad, Idaho to John T. and Mary Jones Ashton. She attended schools in Pocatello, where she resided during the majority of her life. She married Earl R. Van Houten October 5, 1944 at Malad, Idaho. He preceded her in death January 10, 1982.

For many years, Earl was an electrical inspector for the State of Idaho. Donna was employed for 15 years with Fargo’s and for 14 years with Block’s, before retiring in 1982 due to poor health. She was employed with both firms as a fashion buyer. She was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church, but attended St. Anthony Catholic Church with her family.

She enjoyed watching “her” Atlanta Braves Baseball Team and football. She loved the outdoors, camping, reading and her family. She will always be remembered for her total devotion to her daughter and grandson. She was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local 449 – Retired. She was a member of the St. Anthony and St. Joseph Pinochle Marathon. She managed the apartment complex where she lived. She was a very outgoing person and loved to help other people.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Arlene K. and Col. Lee Evans of Pocatello; 2 grandsons, Darren and Dirk Wilson both of Pocatello ; 4 step-grandchildren; 2 step-great grandchildren; 2 sisters, Utahna and her husband, Robert Day of Pocatello, and Joyce Martin of Santa Rosa, California.

She was preceded in death besides her husband, by her parents, 3 brothers and a sister.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m., Monday, November 15, 1993 in the Henderson Funeral Chapel, 431 N 15th Avenue, with Father Roger LaChance officiating. Interment will follow in the Mountain View Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m., Sunday evening from noon until service time Monday at the funeral home.
