Eph E. He was very musical. He and Thomas G. Thomas and Thomas S. Thomas were the organizers of the St. John Brass Band.  He and Thomas S. Thomas leased the old opera house and with their orchestras furnished the music for the shows and dances for several years.

Thirteen years after his wife’s death, he married Mrs. Mary Jones.  Soon after his second marriage he sold his farm and built a general store in St. John which he ran until his death.

Besides running the store, he took great interest in gardening , which was his hobby all his life.  He was kind and pleasant and ambitious.  He set the example of being busy and honest.  He died June 10, 1930, his birthday, at the age of sixty nine.
